The City Clerk is the official custodian of municipal seal and records. The Clerk is the first link to the citizens of Centralia. The Clerk is the local election official and is responsible for the recording and management of documents including, but not limited to city council minutes, ordinances, resolutions, leases, contracts, deeds, and licenses and permits.


The City Clerk’s Office serves the community through voter registration, handles requests for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act and serves as a repository for all permanent City records.

The office also issues liquor and tobacco licenses, raffle permits, vending permits, dog and cat registration tags, dock registrations, and boat stickers for Raccoon Lake and Lake Centralia. All of these and more forms are available on the Licenses, Stickers and Permits page.  

The Clerk’s Office can arrange for rental of any of the Fairview Park Pavilions for family or an organization's event.

The Clerk’s Office provides services to connect or set up water, sewer, and sanitation services. There are many payment methods. Auto debits from a checking account can be arranged in the Clerk’s Office. Payments can be made in the office during office hours, dropped in the convenient drop box across from the Police and Fire Department at 222 S. Poplar St. after hours, or in the drop box located at the front of City Hall at 101 S. Locust or online at

Public Notice

The City of Centralia has made a determination of its prevailing rates of wages to be paid pursuant to "An Act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics and other workmen employed in any public works by the State, County , City or any public body or any political subdivision or by any one under contract for public works" approved June 26 1941, as amended, and found at 820 ILCS 130/.01-12.  Prevailing wage schedule published for Marion, Clinton, Jefferson and Washington County, in the City of Centralia at Copies of the determination may be obtained upon request in the City Clerk's office.
